Parasitic Skies – “The Descent”

May 18, 2010

Wow, I’m a little late on this.  My computer died and my only “real” access to the internet has been my phone up until now.

Anyways, Parasitic Skies (Seattle’s vegan straightedge monsters) have a new full length called “The Descent” out on Seventh Dagger.  They continue where they left off on their 7″ “Embers” so if you liked that then you’ll be more than happy with this release.  It’s angry as hell, heavy as fuck, and I love it.  And so will you.

Check out the e-card to hear 4 of the new songs, and check out the package deal at Seventh Dagger.

these were the days

April 9, 2010

So I have this “thing” for Vogel bands.  Last night I saw Grave Maker cover Buried Alive and it made me want to look up old Buried Alive videos.  I found this full set from 1998 in my hometown of Rochester, NY.  None of the dudes I hung out with in high school were really into hardcore, so I went to this show alone.  I was a short, scrwany 17 year old kid.  A little frightened, but a lot in love.  I wish more shows were still like this.

Memories…

The video is long, but worth it.

Idle Hands

April 1, 2010

So I’m working on opening a screen printing shop here in Salt Lake City called Idle Hands.  Until I get that running I’m just printing some of my own designs to sell and hopefully save some extra money for the shop, and also to help pay for my wedding this fall.  I setup a webstore and have my first shirt up there now.  It’s a Morrissey ripoff, with a photo of him on the front and a Smiths quote on the back.  Today it was featured on the Hardcore Shirt site, which I thought was pretty cool.  Anyways, check it out.  Comments?

Young and in the Way

March 30, 2010

North Carolina’s Young and in the Way is a band you should know about.  They kill everything.  They’ve got a new song up on their MySpace page called “Dark Seed” which is amazing.  Their new album “Amen” will be out this Spring through Hands Up Records, on limited 12″ colored vinyl.  Can’t wait for that.  In the meantime, head over to their page and give em a listen, and get excited about music again.  I know I did.

Anatomi-71 – “Mot Nya Hodjer”

March 29, 2010

I hadn’t heard of this band until recently when I found this record at the store.  I went home to check their myspace to see if it was any good.  It was.  In fact, it was really good, so I went back and bought it, and have been listening to it pretty steadily since.  If you like fast, crusty, Swedish hardcore punk then you should give this a listen.
