For years I heard about some mythical “unreleased” Into Another album. I remember at least one song, “always alone”, on some sort of MySpace page, either an Into Another “fan” page, or possibly even Ritchie’s page (where the Formula stuff was posted for a while)

There was this infamous interview, from Creative Eclipse blog.

Then, one day, Michael Hellfish hands me a hand made cover with a cd inside what said “into another”. Fuckin A, it was the lost album.

Honestly, if this would have come out as a follow up to Seemless when it was “supposed to”, I probably would have fucking HATED it. But now, while it’s still not my favorite material I can still listen to it.

Included in this download are the two b-sides to the T.A.I.L. single, “anne drued’s last entry” and “allthewayrider”.

Along the way, I also came upon some live shows. The first, I had previously posted on some blog or other, from the Tune Inn.  Not sure of the year, but it’s before Seamless.  Ritchie introduces one song as “the alien in love”.

The other, is from the Wetlands in NYC in 1994.

It’s not very surprising that this release snuck past me. To be quite honest, Years Of Refusal didn’t excite me, I only downloaded Swords for the live stuff, and since then there have been a lot of re-issues, re-packages, and re-evaluating my spending habits.

This “very best of” compilation leaves me scratching my head.  Sure, there are the expected (The more you ignore me, suedehead, TLOTFIP), but then there are some songs that are quite boring b-sides (moon river? the girl least likely to?) that should really be left for the completist.

If I were still the type to be spending money on cds, I feel that 2001′s BEST OF! would be a better representation of what songs truly are Moz’s best solo songs. I do realize that there are probably licensing issues, having put so many records out on different labels, but this “best of” makes me wonder who the fuck was actually picking the track listing.

Highlight of the compilation for me was “break up the family”

THE NOTORIOUS XX

The lineup of the band on the demo was James Hart on vocals, Ken Floyd on drums, Dave Peters on guitar, and Billy Sisler on bass.

The demo was “probably” recorded at Selah Studios, where the LIFELESS ep was done (also, XchorusX the godfather ep). These 4 songs were eventually renamed and rerecorded.

“Patricide” kept the same name, and was recorded for Lifeless.  ”Cateclysm” was changed to “Mental Repression” and also on Lifeless. The lyrics on the lyric sheet are a little off. “XVIII Visions Of The Apocalypse” was changed to “Slipping Through the Hands Of God”, and “Legerdomain” was put off until Yesterday Is Time Killed and changed to “Death With A Kiss”

All in all, the demo is exactly that, a demo. The songs are very rough. I didn’t clean up much in terms of sound quality, and it even gets really blown out a couple times. I wanted to keep that feeling.

The rest of the history of Eighteen Visions doesn’t need to be explained here.  That has been chronicled way too much as it is.  But here is where it all started.

i did, however, meet Chris Colohan. in 1996 actually. i was in Buffalo visiting friends. it was really my first time away from home. my first time on the east coast. we went to go see like… Snapcase and Sick Of It All play at the Showplace. this dude walks up to me and hands me a demo. it was a Left For Dead tape. i listened to it on my walkman on the plane ride home, and was blown away. nothing i listened to at the time was that harsh, that fast, that ugly, yet had a sense of humor. the band grew to be one of my favorites, and definitely had an influence on the first real band i formed myself.

i didnt go to the reunion show in 2004, mostly because the last time i tried to go to canada i was refused at the border, but also i didnt think i could afford it. but hey, who am i kidding, i didnt even try.



i tried to google the live record that was recorded at this show, and couldnt find it, so i ripped the copy i once owned to mp3. i didnt do much to clean this up, and it came out pretty good. better quality than that tape i had.

Left For Dead probably influenced an entire generation. i really think that over half of the bands out there right now wouldnt sound the way they did if it wasnt for this band. realest of talks.

i love 108, as previously posted. i also love live recordings, as previously posted. its a win-win situation really.

this set has pretty good sound quality, and great Euro-singalong. the song selection is good, and you can hear every instrument. soundboard quality.

this set was not cleaned up by me at all, and in fact cuts off a few seconds before the last song ends. kind of a bummer, but what can you do? i didnt really even feel like fading it out because ive been busy with other stuff.

no return address, just a perforated GJ and a weird bunch of numbers

i was luck y enough to get one, although i had no idea what it meant. a quick search of the Glassjaw fan forum (yes, i am nerdy enough to lurk that about twice a month) came up that others had gotten one as well, and it seemed that it was people who had ordered stuff off of Merch Direct (Beck’s company), and people were thinking maybe the numbers were some sort of download code.

a few months passed, and weird things started to pop up. videos of new songs, announcing new shows, and then via the band’s twitter, a link to order a new 7″. turns out, that 7″ would multiply five times by the year’s end.

the funny thing about the 7″ records is that they need a special plastic adapter, called a GJ. there is a hole cut out of the center of the record in the shape of the band’s logo, and you buy one (or a set of three) plastic adapters that fit into them to be played on your turntable. the quantities of the 7″s were limited, and are already going for 25-100+ dollars on ebay.

at first, i thought that the title of the compilation of all 5 new songs was a bootleg/fan name, because there is already a bootleg of a 7″ with that title, so i went through the trouble of changing all the tags etc and uploading them to mediafire. turns out, the ep is in itunes and amazon as OUR COLOR GREEN.

the band played a show on new years day in new york, and they played four new songs, giving people hope of a new album. i wouldnt hold my breath though, as NATURAL BORN FARMER has been played live since 2002, and is just now seeing the light of day.

For me, one of the most anticipated releases of 2011 will be Rot In Hell’s “As Pearls Before Swine”

Easily one of the best bands currently active, the songs available on Deathwish’s audio player are a total aural gutfuck.  Filthy, angry, desperate and guttural are words that come to mind when i listen to these tracks.

Expect a handful of releases in 2011 from RIH. in addition to the full length on Deathwish, there will be a split with Integrity, a split with Pale Creation, and at least one appearance in America.

the band’s tumblr also has some songs you cant really hear anywhere else. catch them while you can.
